A Yawl Rigged, SeaHawk hulled Boat
Page updated 3 February 2006
The pictures on this page show a boat spotted on Derwent Water in the Lake District. It clearly has the distinctive SeaHawk hull, a cabin that is different again to the Pedro/Senorita, and a distinctive yawl rig with substantial bowsprit. (It is, of course, possible that this boat uses the deep keel version of the hull used in the Senorita.)
It's rig and small cabin suggest that it is primarily an angler's boat.
In spite of the outboard, do the vents in the hull, amidships, suggest an inboard engine?
The rudder lifts, but assuming a standard SeaHawk depth to the rudder and that this boat has the underwater profile of a SeaHawk, it should not be necessary even for a boat on a mud berth.
A final mystery: This boat appears to sit higher in the water than a typical SeaHawk. Does this mean she carries less ballast, or does this hint at the deep keel version of the hull seen in the Senorita?
